Professor Aneesh Srivastava is currently working as a Director in Urology and Kidney Transplant at Medanta Hospital, Lucknow. He had an illustrious academic career after his postgraduate training, and in 2007, he was selected for the post of Professor of Transplant Surgery & Urology at SGPGIMS. He worked there for 28 years until his retirement in September 2022 as the Professor and Head of the Department of Urology & Renal Transplantation at Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow (SGPGIMS). He also held the position of DEAN of the institute.
He is a pioneer in performing the largest number of Renal Transplants in the Government Sector in the Country. He had been instrumental in initiating the transplant program and mentoring many transplant surgeons in other institutions of the country, like the new upcoming AIIMS of Jodhpur and Rishikesh, to name a few; Command Hospital Lucknow; RML Institute Lucknow; and many other medical colleges for the last many years. He is the current President of the Indian Society of Organ Transplant.
He established the Robotics Program in the department and performed the first Robotic Kidney Transplant in the state of Uttar Pradesh. He is also a pioneer in establishing the Retroperitoneoscopic Renal Surgery in the country. He was the Fellowship Program Director for Renal Transplantation in the department and also supported the
Uro-Oncology Program as a Co-Director.
He has around 270 Publications to his credit, and 70 of them are in the field of Renal Transplant Surgery and Vascular Access.
He has been a post graduate teacher for nearly 30 Years and an examiner for DNB and M.Ch courses for the last several years. He has been an invited faculty/visiting professor at many national and international institutions. He is the recipient of many awards and Orations from the Urological Society of India and the Indian Society of Organ Transplant. He has recently been awarded by the President of Mauritius in recognition of his contribution in the area of Renal Transplantation and Robotic surgery in Urology.
He has organised many courses and workshops at SGPGIMS and for the Urological Society of India. He was associated with the Board of Education (BOE) USI ever since its inception in 2012 and served as the Chairman of the same from 2016 to 2019.
